Heart of Stone

Heart of Stone

Cher's 19th studio album. Released June 19, 1989.

This album was the first full length album I streamed by Cher. And I liked it a whole lot.

It was like being in a warmly lit apartment in NYC on some 15th floor. Gigantic floor-length windows flaunting the beauty of a modern bustling city  🌆. A good day at work, glass of wine in hand, your golden labrador wagging his tail as he jams to Cher. Cooking a delicious meal. And screaming out the lyrics.

That's how this album feels.
To me atleast. And to be clear I was not a part of the 80's Cher era

Track list:

1. If I Could Turn Back Time
2. Just Like Jesse James
3. You Wouldn't Know Love
4. Heart Of Stone
5. Still In Love With You
6. Love On A Rooftop
7. Emotional Fire
8. All Because Of You
9. Does Anybody Really Fall In Love Anymore
10. Starting Over
11. Kiss To Kiss
12. After All (Love Theme From Chances Are)

So I genuinely loved the entire album. The first ever Cher song I consciously l listened to was If I Could Turn Back Time and I really, really liked it. I generally liked rock, not hard rock more on the soft rock side, but you get the point. I instantly fell in love with this classic. And there's no turning back now.

My favourite thing about this album is that there's a lot of scream-out-loud kinda songs, and of course my favourite leather wearing, silver wielding, dark-curl rocking, bad-ass woman.

5. Still in love with you

 Best part?

Outro chorus
Still in love, still in love with you
I know I've been lying to myself
Baby, it's you
I dont wanna believe it
But what can I do?
Still in love with you
I know I've been lying, lying all along
Baby, it's you
And the more I deny it
The more that it's true
Still in love with you
I know I've been lying to myself
Baby, it's you
I dont wanna

6. Love On A Rooftop

One my favourites on this album.

Why? Because the

 Whoaaoo, whoaaao, whoaaa...

If there was a 10 hour version of Cher screaming whoaaoo, whoaaaoo, whoaa on Spotify, I'd consider going premium. And that's just because they chose to put a 10 hour version of Cher singing whoaaoo, whoaaao, whoaaa on Spotify.
🫡

But there are also some genuinely good lyrics that slaps.

Like,

Do we just run out of dreams when all our dreams come true?

And and the pre-chorus,

We never stop to see the moon at night

We're just too busy leading complicated lives

[ Still writing this... So it's under construction until I realize that I've left this halfway...]
